Cyclone Volleyball Ranked No. 18 in Preseason Poll

AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State volleyball team is ranked No. 18 in the CBS College Sports/AVCA Division I Coaches preseason poll. It marks the first-ever top-25 preseason ranking for the Cyclones, who return five starters from last season's regional semifinalist squad.
Setter Kaylee Manns and middle blocker Jen Malcom lead the returnees from last year's team. Other returning starters include outside hitters Victoria Henson and Mary Bisenius and libero Ashley Mass.
Manns, a junior from Topeka, Kan., was recently named to the preseason all-Big 12 team. The setter was fourth in the Big 12 last season with 12.60 assists per set in league matches.
Malcom averaged 2.50 kills per set last year and set a new school record with 159 block assists. Mass was named to the Big 12's All-Freshman team last year while Henson and Bisenius chipped in 2.88 and 2.34 kills, respectively.
The Cyclones were one of just four Big 12 teams ranked in the top-25. Texas led the way ranked No. 3 and Nebraska is slotted No. 7. Kansas State was the other Big 12 team in the rankings, entering the season at No. 14.
The Cyclones open the season Fri., Aug. 29 at the Panther Invitational in Milwaukee, Wis.
