AMES, Iowa ? When the 2008 Iowa State football team enters Jack Trice Stadium on the night of Thursday, Aug. 28, it will do so before the home fans in their new cardinal-and-gold uniforms and helmets. The season-opener vs. South Dakota State will kickoff at 7 p.m. CDT.
With the assistance of FOX College Sports, Cyclone supporters will have an opportunity to see the new uniforms on television (via FCS Central, a digital cable network seen in more than nine million homes nation-wide). In addition, Fox College Sports is allowing Iowa State to webcast the game live on cyclones.com.
“We are excited that Cyclone fans across the country will get to see the unveiling of our new uniforms by either watching the game on FCS Central or our web site,” Iowa State's Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said. “We've worked cooperatively with FCS Central in order to get live television coverage for this special occasion.”
FCS Central is a partner of the Big 12 Conference and will air a number of games involving league teams this season. Fans in markets around the nation can link to FCS here and type in their zip code in the yellow box in column one to check their local coverage information. FCS Central is also carried on Direct TV (channel 617).
FOX also granted permission to the institution to live web cast the game as part of the Clone Zone, Iowa State's premium content package at cyclones.com.
“FCS Central will allow us to web cast its audio and video production of the game to our ever-increasing web audience,” Pollard said. “Certainly, live programming of Iowa State football via the web is highly coveted, it has been very popular in previous trials.”
The Cyclones' home opener and Chizik's coaching debut last season against Kent State attracted nearly 4,000 paid viewers on cyclones.com. Fans desiring to watch the web site coverage of this game can do so by subscribing to the Clone Zone for $8.95 per month. Go to cyclones.com to learn more or click here for a direct link to sign up.
