? Iowa State opens Big 12 play Wednesday night vs. Texas A&M on the heels of a three-match winning streak. The Cyclones swept Iowa, Drake and Xavier last weekend to capture the tournament title at the Iowa State Tournament.
? Iowa State is 3-9 in Big 12 openers, including 2-1 under Christy Johnson.
? The Cyclones will play three of the top four teams in the Big 12 preseason poll in the first two weeks of conference play.
? Sophomore libero Ashley Mass earned her third career Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor this week after averaging 5.92 digs per set in four matches.
? Mass has had 10+ digs in every match this season, running her consecutive match streak to 37. The streak dates back to her first career start at libero against LSU in 2007.
? Iowa State has three players leading the Big 12 in different statistical categories. Mass paces the Big 12 with 4.95 digs while Kaylee Manns averages a league-best 11.92 assists. Jen Malcom is the Big 12's best hitter, killing the ball at a .437 clip.
? Manns is Iowa State's all-time leader in assists per set (12.55) and also ranks sixth in digs per set (3.05).
? Manns, a junior, needs 200 digs to become just the second player in school history to record 1,000 assists and 1,000 digs.
? Victoria Henson is leading the Cyclones with 4.03 kills per set and is on pace to become the first Cyclone to average over four kills per set since 1997 (Colleen Henican, 4.73).
? Henson has shown great improvement in the first 11 matches this season. Her 4.03 kills and .254 hitting percentage comes after posting 2.53 kills and .044 hitting percentage in the first 11 matches of 2007.
? In the last five matches, freshman Rachel Hockaday has been ISU's top hitter in terms of efficiency. Hockaday has hit .375 during the span while averaging 3.00 digs.
? ISU received a welcome addition last weekend in the return of senior defensive specialist Amy Vos. Vos missed the first nine matches of the season recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in the team's preseason scrimmage.
? All five of ISU's freshman from the top-ranked recruiting class in school in school history have seen action. Kelsey Petersen, the No. 60 recruit according to prepvolleyball.com, played for the first time in ISU's match against Drake. The coaching staff had considered a redshirt for the talented outside.
? Mary Bisenius was named tournament MVP last weekend, hitting .356 and averaging 3.22 kills in three matches.
? Diane Kieger had her best weekend of the season, hitting .433 and blocking 1.22 balls per set.

On Deck For ISU

KU has been without the services of injured sophomore outside hitter Jenna Kaiser, who averaged 2.86 kills as a freshman. KU opens league play Wednesday at Colorado.
Henson Goes Off
