FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. ? The Iowa State men's cross country team looked in mid-season form Saturday at the 2008 Roy Griak Invitational at the Les Bolstad Golf Course. The Cyclones had four runners finish among the top 19 placers to place second as a team in the 25-team Division I Men's Gold race. Adams State won the men's competition with 75 points as Iowa State was the runner-up with 89 points. The Iowa State women's team placed 10th overall among 23 teams in the Jack Johnson Women's Division I race, which was won by host Minnesota
Sophomore Hillary Bor led the Cyclone men by finishing eighth overall with an 8,000-meter time of 24:19, three seconds ahead of senior teammate Kiel Uhl, who finished 10th overall in the 229-man field. Taking the third spot for Iowa State was junior Guor Majak, who finished 12th overall with a time of 24:30.

Freshman Rico Loy stepped up big by finishing 19th in his Cyclone debut with a time of 24:53. Yonas Mebrahtu made his first appearance for Iowa State, finishing as ISU's fifth man with a time of 25:16. Teammate Clayton Carper of Mason City finished 41st with the same time.
Junior Paige Ties finished first for the Cyclone women's team and 45th overall in a field of 222 runners with a 6,000-meter time of 22:35. Cyclone freshman Meaghan Nelson of Cedar Rapids and Dani Stack were Iowa State's second and third finishers, respectively. Nelson finished 46th in 22:35. Stack was 67th in 23:08. Cyclone women's basketball junior guard Anna Florzak was Iowa State's fourth finisher, placing 70th in 23:10.
The Iowa State cross country teams will have a three week break before they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana for the Pre-Nationals race Saturday, Oct. 18. The team will have plenty of time for preparation before they host the Big 12 Championships in Ames, Iowa on Nov. 1.
