Mass Earns Second Defensive Honor From Big 12

AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State libero Ashley Mass has been named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and fourth time of her career.
Mass averaged a Big 12-leading 5.86 digs last week in matches against No. 2 Nebraska and No. 3 Texas. The Muskego, Wis. native also chipped in three service aces and was perfect on 38 serve receive attempts against the Huskers and Longhorns -- two squads that pace the league in kills and hitting percentage, respectively, in conference action.
Mass had a season-high and team-best 27 digs against Nebraska on Saturday in Ames. On Wednesday at Texas, she finished the night with 14 digs to her credit.
Mass and the Cyclones will be back in action Wednesday night at Missouri before returning home to face Oklahoma Saturday.
