AMES, Iowa - Iowa State (11-5, 0-1) will play host to Nebraska (11-3, 1-0) in its Big 12 home opener. ISU has won its Big 12 home opener three years in a row. The ISU-NU game on Wednesday is one day shy from the 100th anniversary of the schools first meeting. The schools played their first game in the series on Jan. 15, 1909, a 42-20 Nebraska win in Lincoln.

-ISU fell to 6-7 in Big 12 openers after losing at No. 7 Texas, 75-67 Saturday afternoon...Lucca Staiger scored 15 points and handed out a career-high five assists to help him earn Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season.
-ISU and NU are two of the top scoring defense teams in the Big 12...the Huskers lead the Big 12 in scoring defense (55.5 ppg), while ISU ranks third in the league (60.9).
-Only four teams this year have shot above 40 percent against ISU this year, as the ISU ranks second in the league and in the top-30 nationally in FG pct. defense (38.0).
-NU leads the Big 12 in fewest turnovers (11.7)...ISU ranks second at 11.9.

Last Time Out
-Iowa State fell at No. 7 Texas on Saturday, 75-67...the Cyclones were down by as many as 13 points in the first half, but rallied to cut it to a one-point game in the second half...it was just a 3-point game with under 12 minutes left until UT went on a 10-2 run.
-The Cyclones were led by Craig Brackins, who tallied 19 of his 20 points in the second half after getting into early foul trouble.
-The Cyclone forward has now scored 19 or more points in a half three times this year.
-Brackins, who is second in the Big 12 in scoring (18.4), grabbed 13 boards to record his second consecutive double-double.
-It was Brackins' eighth 20-point game of the season and his sixth double-double in the last 11 games.

- Diante Garrett posted double figures in scoring for the fourth time in the last five games with 13 points...Garrett ranks sixth in the Big 12 in assists (5.1)...Garrett made both of his free-throws vs. Texas to keep his consecutive free-throw made streak alive at 12.
-Bryan Petersen increased his 3-pointers made in a game streak to 10 after going 2-of-7 from downtown...Petersen has 74 3-pointers in his career, needing one trey to tie for 15th all-time with Brian Pearson (1989-92) and Mike Born (1988-89).
-ISU outrebounded the bigger Longhorns, 42-38...it marked the first time this season where the Cyclones lost when outrebounding their opponent (6-1).
-ISU committed just 10 turnovers in the game, the fifth time ISU has recorded 10 turnovers or less in a game this season...ISU ranks second in the Big 12 in fewest turnovers (11.9).
