AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State junior setter Kaylee Manns has been named one of the top-five setters in the country for 2008 by Collegiate Volleyball Update. Manns was a second team AVCA All-American and a first team All-Big 12 pick.
Manns averaged 11.69 assists per set to lead the Big 12 and rank fourth in the nation. The Topeka, Kan. native dished out 1,508 assists to break her own school record. Manns now holds the top-three single-season marks in ISU history and needs just 64 assists to become the school's career leader.
The three-year starter, who has guided Iowa State to the NCAA Tournament in each season, was solid across the board as she added 76 kills and 81 blocks to go with 2.63 digs per set. She became the 11th player in ISU history to reach 1,000 career digs in the Cyclones' second round win over No. 10 Minnesota.
Also receiving recognition from CVU.com were setter of the year Alisha Glass (Penn State), Carli Lloyd (California), Nevena Djordjevic (Oregon) and Meredith Schamun (Rice).
