Hockaday Named Rising Star By CVU.com

AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State freshman Rachel Hockaday has been named a Rising Star by the Collegiate Volleyball Update. Hockaday was one of 16 freshmen nationally to receive the honor.

Hockaday finished with an ISU rookie record 353 kills en route to earning Big 12 All-Freshman Team honors. The Decatur, Ill. native became just the fifth freshman in school history to average over 2.00 kills and 2.00 digs while playing all six rotations for the Cyclones.

Hockaday had eight double-doubles in 2008, including three in the NCAA Tournament. The outside hitter posted double-figure kills in 19 matches.
