AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State running back Alexander Robinson, who is averaging 109 yards per game rushing, has been named to the All-Big 12 Conference midseason team by Phil Steele Publications. Robinson is just 1.6 yards out of the conference individual lead despite missing the end of the Army game and much of the Kansas State contest with a groin injury. Though not 100 percent last week at Kansas, Robinson rushed for 152 yards on 27 carries, scoring a pair of TDs against a No. 15 KU defense that was near the top of the national list in rushing defense.
Center Reggie Stephens, Iowa State's leader on the offensive line that has helped make the Cyclones the top rushing team in the Big 12 at 209.5 yards per game, was named to the second team. ISU linebacker Jesse Smith, who leads the Big 12 in tackles at 10.67 stops per contest also made the second team.
Wide receiver Marquis Hamilton (22 rec., 382 yds., 3 TDs), safety David Sims (38 tackles, 3 int.) and placekicker Grant Mahoney (8-10 FGA, two 50-yard FGs) were named to the third team.
