AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State volleyball team is ranked sixth in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll, which was released Tuesday. It marks the 16th-straight week in the top-25 and the seventh-straight week in the top-10 for the Cyclones.
Iowa State finished the season 27-5 overall and earned a second-place finish in the Big 12 with a 17-3 record.
The Cyclones advanced to the Sweet 16 for the third-straight year, beating George Mason and Wichita State before falling to Nebraska in the NCAA Regional Semifinal. The Huskers were ranked fifth in the final poll, while fellow Big 12 foe Texas garnered the second-place slot. ISU joined national champion Penn State as the only schools to defeat the Longhorns this season.
The Cyclones lose just one starter from this year's team in senior setter Kaylee Manns, who was a second-team All-American. Leading the returnees will be first-team All-American libero Ashley Mass and third-team All-American outside hitter Victoria Henson.
