Henson led the Big 12 with 4.19 kills per set as a sophomore while hitting a career-best .253 in 2008. The Leavenworth, Kan. native was an honorable mention AVCA All-American and a first-team All-Big 12 selection. Henson was named CVU.com National Player of the Week after the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. The outside hitter blasted 50 kills in wins over Northern Iowa and nationally-ranked Minnesota to help ISU reach its second-straight Sweet 16. Henson will be one of 44 outside hitters vying for a spot.
The 2008 Big 12 Libero of the Year, Mass re-wrote the ISU record books by posting 646 digs. A third-team All-American, Mass became the fastest Cyclone to ever post 1,000 career digs, doing it in her 59th match. The Muskego, Wis. native was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week a league-high four times in 2008. Mass is among 36 liberos trying out for a spot.
“This is a great opportunity for them to go and compete against the nation's top collegiate players,” Iowa State head coach Christy Johnson said. “They will all benefit tremendously from this opportunity and we are excited to have them representing Iowa State University at these tryouts.”
