AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State sophomore Craig Brackins received another postseason honor today, earning first-team All-District VI accolades by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). District VI includes players in the following states: Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
A native of Palmdale, Calif., Brackins ranks second in the Big 12 in scoring (20.1) and third in the league in rebounding (9.4). Brackins scored 20 or more points in 18 games this season and was recently named first-team All-Big 12.
Brackins needs 12 points to become the 27th member of ISU's 1,000-point club and just the fifth player in school history to score 1,000 or more points in their first two seasons.
Brackins and the Cyclones will face Oklahoma State tomorrow (March 11) in the first round of the 2009 Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City, Okla.
