IRVING, Texas ? Iowa State sophomore Craig Brackins earned first-team All-Big 12 Conference honors, announced today by the Big 12 office. Brackins is the first Cyclone to earn first-team All-Big 12 kudos since Jamaal Tinsley did it in the 2000-01 season. Curtis Stinson was a first-team All-Big 12 selection by the Associated Press in 2005-06, but was a second-team honoree by the Big 12.
A native of Palmdale, Calif., Brackins ranks second in the Big 12 in scoring (20.1) and third in the league in rebounding (9.4). Brackins, who ranks third in the Big 12 in double-doubles with 14, averaged a double-double in conference play (21.8 pts/10.3 reb.), scoring 20 or more points in 11 of 16 Big 12 games.

Brackins' outstanding season ranks among the best in Cyclone history. He ranks in ISU's single-season top-20 in four different categories: field goals (T11th- 236), points (11th- 622), rebounds (T13th- 291) and double-doubles (T11th- 14). His 348 points scored in conference games this year was the best in the Big 12 and ranks as the 10th-best single-season scoring total in league history (conference games only).
The Cyclone big man is one of three players in the country to rank in the top-30 nationally in both scoring (28th- 20.1) and rebounding (26th- 9.4). Oklahoma's Blake Griffin and Notre Dame's Luke Harangody are the others.
