Cyclones Take Eighth in Indiana

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? The Iowa State men's golf team fired a final round of 295 and took eighth place Sunday at the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. Illinois rallied to overtake day-one leader Penn State for the team title, finishing one stroke ahead of the Nittany Lions. Penn State's Kevin Foley and Wisconsin's Dan Woltman shared medallist honors after both carded 54-hole totals of 207.

Ben Herrera (217) and Tom Lathrop (218) both scored top-20 finishes for ISU, which finished in the top half of the field for the fourth-consecutive tournament. Nate McCoy (221) and Michael Wuertz (223) rounded out ISU's counting scores.

The Big 12 Championships are up next for the Cyclones, taking place April 27-29 in Hutchinson, Kan. The conference tournament will consist of 72 holes spanning over three days of play. The winning team will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals. ISU will enter the tournament as the No. 10 seed.
