Jack Trice Stadium Renovations Make Progress

AMES, Iowa - Construction around Jack Trice Stadium continues this spring and cyclones.com visited Monday with assistant project manager Russ Dodson of the Weitz Company. Construction on the east side includes doubling the width of the concourse and adding restrooms and concessions buildings. It will closely resemble the work completed on the facilities' west side last year. The work on the north end of the stadium will include an upgraded gate system and new perimeter fencing.

Crews have started pouring concrete for steps to the Richard O. Jacobson Plaza (located on the east side just outside the Jack Trice Club). The athletics department will use the Jacobson Plaza for outdoor social events and other functions. The area will also include a memorial tribute to Jack Trice, the first African-American student-athlete in school history.
