Cyclones Make Preseason Football Teams

AMES, Iowa- With the football season right around the corner, college football preview magazines have begun to fill newsstands with their predictions for the season. Phil Steele's College Football Preview and Lindy's have released their preseason All-Big 12 teams and the Cyclones are well represented.
Iowa State senior tackle Reggie Stephens made the All-Big 12 second team for both publications. Cyclone sophomore Leonard Johnson joins Stephens on the second team on Steele's team as a kick returner.
Senior punter Mike Brandtner also made both teams, being a member of the Lindy's second team and the third team for Steele. Seniors linebacker Jesse Smith and safety James Smith as well as sophomore kicker Grant Mahoney also made the preseason All-Big 12 third team.
The Cyclones kick their season off Sept. 3 at home against North Dakota State.
