AMES, Iowa ? Coming off its first-ever Elite Eight, the Iowa State Volleyball team looks to reach its fourth-straight NCAA Championship appearance this fall and it wants you to be a part of the action.
For just $25, or roughly two dollars per match, fans can enjoy collegiate volleyball at the highest level, and help the Cyclones reach their goal of 300 season ticket holders. Tickets can be purchased now by mailing in the order form at cyclones.com or by calling the ticket office at 1-888-478-2925.
“Getting to 300 season ticket holders would be another big step for our program,” Iowa State head coach Christy Johnson said. “Our fan support has been great and continues to be very important to us. We hope to continue our rise up the national attendance rankings this season, and getting those extra season ticket holders would really help us accomplish those goals.”
The Cyclones finished last season ranking 14th in the country in attendance, averaging over 1,600 fans per match.
ISU has added preferred seating in section 110, meet-and-greets with the team and a subscription to the volleyball coaching staff's monthly newsletter as incentives to all season ticket holders.
“We want to reward the people that purchase season tickets by giving them great seats right behind our primary bench at each of our matches,” Johnson said. “Also the meet-and-greets will give the fans a chance to talk to our student-athletes and members of the coaching staff. We've never done this before and we're excited to get to know our supporters.”
This year's home slate consists of 12 matches, including five teams that made the NCAA Championships. Nationally-ranked Texas and Nebraska, both of which participated in the Final Four last season, will visit Hilton Coliseum.
The Cyclones return all but one starter, including three All-Americans from last year's squad, which finished the 2008 ranked 12th in the country. ISU's incoming freshman class was recently ranked 10th in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com.
ISU opens the season with a rare Friday-Saturday series against UW-Milwaukee on Aug. 28-29.
