AMES, Iowa- Many Cyclone fans never would have believed Craig Brackins would be signing autographs and posing for photos at the 2009 Cyclone Fan Fest. The Iowa State all-everything basketball player was, by most accounts, considered a lock to be a NBA first-round draft pick in 2009 after establishing himself as one of the best players in the nation with an outstanding sophomore campaign for the Cyclones.
Brackins instead decided to stick around in Ames, citing unfinished business he wanted to take care of before embarking on a professional career. Much to the delight of the many ISU fans that showed up Sunday afternoon to kick-off the 2009-10 season, Brackins was a hit with the crowd, greeting the Cyclone faithful with his contagious smile.
Brackins' name will likely appear on almost all of the college basketball experts' preseason All-America teams. He was recently named to the preseason Wooden Award Top-50 watch list.
The All-Big 12 First-Team forward recently sat down with cyclones.com to talk about the Wooden Award and preparing for the 2009-10 basketball season. Click the link in the photo above to see the interview.
