AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State volleyball fans have answered the call!
When the Iowa State Athletics Department released information regarding season tickets in July, head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch was hoping 300 season tickets would be purchased. Without a doubt, Cyclone fans stepped up to the plate.
As of Thursday morning, the ticket office had processed orders for over 500 season tickets, eclipsing the previous record of 116 set in 2008.
“After our Elite Eight finish last season, we really wanted to capitalize on the momentum and see if we could grow our fan base,” Johnson-Lynch said. “We tried to reach out to fans in Ames and surrounding communities and make a push for season ticket sales. The response has been incredible.”
In 2008, Iowa State ranked 14th in the nation in attendance, averaging over 1,600 fans per match. With the increase in season tickets sold, ISU may be able to break into the top-10 and Johnson-Lynch is looking forward to seeing the season ticket holders in the stands.
“We are so excited about the huge growth in our season ticket numbers,” Johnson-Lynch added. “We can't wait to see them in the stands and interact with them throughout the season with our meet-and-greets.”
Fans can still purchase season tickets for just $25, which is just over $2 per match. To order season tickets, call the Athletics Ticket Office at 1-888-478-2925 or visit cyclones.com.
The Cyclones open the season Friday against UW-Milwaukee at 6:30 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.
