Second Football Practice In The Books

AMES, Iowa ? If Iowa State's offense is part of a Cyclone means to an end, then the proof will be in the details. It is just those details that ISU head coach Paul Rhoads and offensive coordinator Tom Herman are working on.

“We will have most of the offense in by the seventh practice,” Herman said. “One of the things we are seeing is that there are mistakes being made late in practice when the players are tired. That is normal and we need to keep executing so we don't have that problem late in a game.”

Rhoads said his team really got down to business Friday after Wednesday's media day and practice on Thursday.

“There is always a little bit of a thrill when you come back to practice for the first time,” Rhoads said. “The thrill lessens as the work picks up and that is to be expected.”

Rhoads said the first week of practice can be ragged.

“When you haven't been out there, you are going to see mistakes as everybody gets into football shape, which is different than coming to camp in great physical condition. They will come around.”

Saturday's practice could bring temperatures in the 90s after what has been a relatively cool summer in central Iowa.
