TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Sophomore
Aliphine Tuliamuk highlighted competition for the Iowa State women's cross country team Saturday at the Pre-Nationals Invitational. The Kenya native led the women's side to a third-place team finish with 175 overall points. Florida State won the women's competition with 115 team points.
“As a group on the women's side, we made improvements from a few weeks ago,” Iowa State head coach
Corey Ihmels said. “They did a tremendous job to keep us moving down the right path towards conference in two weeks. I think we're moving forward in a great direction, and we'll be in a good place going into conference.”
Tuliamuk clocked a fifth-place finish in the Women's Blue 6,000-meter race with a time of 20:29. Junior
Betsy Saina was the second Cyclone to cross the finish line, clocking a 20:39.70 and scoring 14 points for the women's squad.
The Cyclones will compete next at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships on Oct. 30 in Stillwater, Okla.
