BOULDER, Colo. - Led by senior Victoria Henson's season-high 24 kills, the No. 12 Cyclones (14-4, 7-3 Big 12) set down the Colorado Buffaloes (6-10, 3-7 Big 12) in four sets Wednesday (22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-10) at the Coors Events Center.
Henson added 16 digs on the night for her eighth double-double this season and growing her streak of 10-plus kills matches to 26.
Setter Alison Landwehr had a career night with a career-high 59 assists and adding 12 digs.
It was a night for offense as Carly Jenson posted her second-straight double-double with 15 kills and 15 digs against the Buffaloes. Jamie Straube put on a strong show as well, posting 13 kills on the night.
After dropping the first set, Iowa State shut down Buffalo stand-out Kerra Schroeder in set two, holding her to three kills after she posted nine against the Cyclones in the first set. The defense came together on the whole in set two, dropping Colorado's hitting percentage from .389 in the first set to .176 after two.
Schroeder finished the match with 21 kills, the most kills by an Iowa State opponent since Texas' Destinee Hooker had 27 against the Cyclones last season.
The Cyclones finished the night hitting .338, including a .531 percentage in the fourth, and most dominant, set of the night. It was the first time Iowa State hit over .300 since beating Oklahoma at home on Sept. 25.
Next up for the Cyclones is the Kansas Jayhawks who come to Ames High School on Saturday for a 6:30 p.m. match.
