AMES, Iowa - The No. 12 Cyclones (14-4, 7-3 Big 12) will look to split the season series with the Kansas Jayhawks (13-8, 4-6 Big 12) on Saturday night when the teams face each other at Ames High School.
On Oct. 9, the then-No. 10 Cyclones lost a four-set match in Lawrence, Kan. to the unranked Jayhawks. The loss was Iowa State's first loss to an unranked foe since the 2008 season and their second-straight loss on the road. The Cyclones were out dug for only the second time this season at Kansas, 75-63 and hit only .182 on the night.
Since falling to the Jayhawks, the Cyclones are 3-0 and have picked up all parts of their game. Defense has seen the most improvement in the three matches since the trip to Kansas. Iowa State is averaging 17.64 digs per set since its loss to Kansas, a step up from its 15.30 average going into Kansas two weeks ago. Blocking has also seen a small increase as the Cyclones averaged 2.36 blocks per set in the last three matches, up from 2.25.
Saturday's match begins at 6:30 p.m. and is preceded by a youth-skills clinic that will take place at Ames High School from Noon until 1 p.m. for fans in the eighth grade and under. Kids who attend the clinic will receive a free ticket to Saturday night's match.

- The Cyclones will host a free youth skills clinic from Noon until 1 p.m. at Ames High School prior to Saturday's match against the Kansas Jayhawks. The clinic is open for all fans in the 8th grade and under.
- Iowa State's win over Colorado was the team's third win this season when losing the first set and ended a two-match road losing streak. (Texas, Kansas)
- The Cyclones hit .338 in Boulder, the highest road percentage since boasting a .381 hitting percentage on the road at Texas Tech in Sept. 2009.
- Alison Landwehr recorded a career-best 59 assists against the Buffaloes. Landwehr had posted 49 assists twice in her career.
- Victoria Henson had 24 kills at Colorado, a season-high for her. Henson now has 26 straight 10-plus kills performances dating back to last season.
- For the second consecutive match, Henson, Landwehr and Carly Jenson all had double-doubles. Henson had 24 kills and 16 digs, Jenson had 15 kills and 15 digs and Landwehr had 12 digs to go with her 59 assists.
- Henson and Jenson have each had eight double-double matches this season.
- The Cyclones had four players with 10 or more digs against the Buffaloes since five players had double-digit digs against Baylor earlier this year. Against Colorado, Ashley Mass (22), Henson (16), Jenson (15), Landwehr (12) all had more than 10 digs.
- Freshman Tenisha Matlock got in on the action against Colorado, connecting for a season-high six kills.
- Colorado's Kerra Schroeder had 21 kills against Iowa State, the highest number of kills since former Texas Longhorn Destinee Hooker had 27 against the Cyclones last season.
- Jamie Straube and Henson are ranked in the top 10 in the conference this season in hitting. Straube ranks ninth with a .310 hitting percentage and is followed by Henson, who is 10th with a .306 percentage.
- Henson continues to lead the league in kills this season, averaging 4.31 kills per set. Jenson also makes the top 10 with a 3.11 average, ranked ninth.
Streaks and Trends
- The Cyclones 53-match win streak over unranked teams ended with their 3-1 loss to the Jayhawks on Oct. 6.
- Iowa State has beaten at least one ranked foe in each of Johnson-Lynch's six years at the school.
- ISU opponents have hit over .300 just 14 times in 181 matches under Johnson-Lynch. Topping .300 has happened just eight times in 118 matches since 2007.
- Mass has posted double-digit digs in 107 of the 111 matches she has started at libero. Overall, she has been in double-digits 108 times.
