AMES, Iowa - Each week cyclones.com will feature one of the members of the Iowa State volleyball team, giving fans a chance to get to know the student-athletes off the court.
Today, senior libero Ashley Mass is in the spotlight. Consistent throughout her four years at Iowa State, Mass broke the Big 12 record for digs this season, overtaking former Kansas State Wildcat Angie Lastra (2,032 digs) for the top spot. With 2,238 career digs, Mass is the only Big 12 or Iowa State player to ever reach the 2,200 dig mark. In 2010, Mass is averaging 4.90 digs per set, leading in the league. Her ability to cover the court defensively is essential to the Cyclones' success.
