? The Iowa State softball team heads to Houston this weekend for the Marriott Houston Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston.
? The Cyclones will face Purdue (1-4), No. 16 Louisiana-Lafayette (5-0), No. 20 Texas (5-0), Houston (2-3) and UT-San Antonio (2-3).
? ISU and Texas will be playing in a non-Big 12 game for the first time in series history. The game will provide a preview of the Big 12 series, which is set to be played in Ames May 1-2.
? ISU went 3-3 last weekend at the Metrodome Softball Classic. Two of the Cyclones' three losses were decided in extra innings.
? Iowa State defeated Iowa for the first time since 2003, beating the Hawkeyes 8-2. The eight runs scored against Iowa were the most by the Cyclones in the series since 1983. The Cyclones and Hawkeyes will meet again March 31 in Ames in the annual Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series contest.
? The Cyclones are averaging 9.2 hits and five runs per game. Their opponents are posting 7.2 hits and four runs per contest.
? The Cyclones are second in the Big 12 in hitting with a .307 team average, trailing only Oklahoma State (.309). In the circle, ISU ranks seventh in the league with a 3.70 ERA.
? Six players that played in all the games last weekend hit over .300 for the Cyclones.
? The Cyclones have four players with hitting streaks of three games or more. Heidi Kidwell has hit safely in the last five games.
? Heidi Kidwell was red-hot for the Cyclones on opening weekend, hitting at a .500 clip (11-for-22).
? Heidi Kidwell's 11 hits are the most by any Big 12 player this season.

? Zabriskie struck out a career-best 12 in the Cyclones' loss to Arkansas. The 12 strikeouts were the most by a Cyclone since Amie Ford struck out 13 against Vermont in 2006.
? Zabriskie became the fourth player in school history to record 400+ career strikeouts in the win over Minnesota Sunday. She has 401 in her career, just 94 shy of tying the career mark of 495, which was set by Courtney Dully (1994-97).
? Alex Johnson moved into a tie for first at ISU in career runs batted in. The senior drove in one with a homer against Minnesota and then knocked home two against Western Illinois to run her career total to 104, tying Ashley Killeen (2004-07).

? Freshman Erica Miller provided a nice spark for the Cyclones, hitting .353 and driving home five in her first action for Iowa State.
? Miller's three-run first-inning homer against Iowa propelled the Cyclones to the win. It was the first home run by a Cyclone against the Hawkeyes since 2006 (Ashley Killeen).
? Kelsey Kidwell stole her 31st career base in the game against Iowa. She is tied for fourth all-time at ISU (Lisa Frank).

? The Cyclones are 1-2 against UT-San Antonio. The Cyclones split a pair of games in 1994 and dropped a 2003 game 7-6.
