ISU To Face Illinois In Bettendorf For Spring Contest

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State volleyball team will take to the road for its third spring exhibition date Saturday when it faces Illinois at Pleasant Valley High School in Bettendorf, Iowa.
The 2009 Sweet 16 participants will open the day with drills from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. before playing a match at 3 p.m. Fans are welcome to attend and admission is free.
The Cyclones, who were ranked No. 6 in the final AVCA poll, return all but one starter from a team that went 27-5 and finished second in the Big 12 last fall. All-Americans Victoria Henson and Ashley Mass are the top returnees for the Cyclones. ISU advanced to the Sweet 16 before falling to Nebraska in Omaha.
Illinois, which finished No. 10 in the nation, went 26-6 before dropping its Sweet 16 contest to Final Four participant Hawai'i. The Fighting Illini are led by All-America outside hitter Laura DeBruler, who averaged 4.46 kills and hit .300 last year. Illinois returns all but one starter from last year's team.
