AMES, Iowa - A year ago, Iowa State volleyball fans answered the call with a school-record 38,000 fans watching the Cyclones play at Hilton Coliseum. Those fans saw wins over nationally-ranked Texas A&M and Baylor, along with a stunning upset of second-ranked Texas in front of a raucous crowd. A state of Iowa record 10,203 fans saw them battle Nebraska and the Cyclone faithful were there when ISU advanced to its third-straight Sweet 16 with a sweep of Wichita State.
The record-turnout resulted in Iowa State ranking ninth nationally in attendance, and head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch and the Cyclones are welcoming you back for more of the excitement in 2010.
"Our fans have been incredibly supportive over the past five seasons and we would love to see our fan base grow even more this year," Johnson-Lynch said. "We are hoping to break last year's record of 608 season-ticket holders and continue to make Hilton Coliseum one of the best volleyball venues in the country."
For just $35, or just over $2 per match, fans can enjoy collegiate volleyball at the highest level. Season tickets can be purchased now at cyclones.com (click here) or by calling the ticket office at 1-888-478-2925.
Season-ticket holders receive preferred seating in sections 110-112 and the opportunity to attend two meet and greets with the Cyclone coaches and players during the season. There will also be a chalk talk exclusive to season-ticket holders Aug. 21 prior to the scrimmage.
This year's home slate consists of 15 matches, including contests against intratstate rival Northern Iowa and seven other teams that participated in the NCAA Championships in 2009. Nationally-ranked Nebraska, Texas, Texas A&M and Baylor will visit Hilton Coliseum.
The Cyclones return all but one starter, including two All-Americans from last year's squad, which finished 2009 ranked sixth in the country. ISU's incoming freshman class was recently ranked 16th in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com.
ISU opens the season Aug. 28-29 at the prestigous Runza/AVCA Showcase in Omaha, Neb. against Florida and Kentucky. The home slate begins the following weekend with the Cyclones hosting UW-Milwaukee, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and NCAA Championship participant Florida International in the Iowa State Challenge.
