DALLAS, Texas -- The PricewaterhouseCoopers SMU Athletic Forum announced Wednesday that Iowa State running back Alexander Robinson is a candidate for the 2010 Doak Walker Award. The award is presented annually to the nation's top college running back.
Last season, Robinson became the first Cyclone back to rush for more than 1,000 yards since 2004. Robinson averaged 5.2 yards a carry to compile 1,195 yards despite missing the Nebraska game and most of the Kansas State setback and parts of other games because of a groin injury. He rushed for 100 or more yards against Iowa, Kent State, Army, Kansas, Colorado and Minnesota.
Robinson rushed for a career-high 152 yards and two scores at Kansas. He is the 13th player in Iowa State history to have 2,000 rushing yards in his career.
