AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State cross country team will travel south to Des Moines on Friday to open the 2010 season at the Drake Fall Classic. Among the teams it will compete against are in-state rivals Drake and Northern Iowa. After two weeks of team training, head coach
Corey Ihmels is looking forward to seeing the results produced by his squad.
“Every year this meet is a chance for us to get our feet wet and be competitive,” Ihmels said. “We'll run a fair amount of people and see where we're at right now.”
The Cyclones will take 14 athletes to run in the Drake Fall Classic, all of whom are returning from the 2009 season.
The women will run redshirt freshmen
Emily Meese and Nicole Engelhardt, sophomore
Christine Fries, juniors
Kellien Oettle,
Ines Fischer, and Kersten Thorgaard.
The men will compete redshirt freshmen
Daniel Ducharme , Nick Schultze and
Tyler Rich, sophomores

Elphas Sang, and senior
David Lantz,
The Drake Fall Classic is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Results will be posted on cyclones.com at the conclusion of the meet.
