Cyclones Set to Host Iowa Intercollegiate

AMES, Iowa ? The Iowa State cross country team will play host to its only home meet of the 2010 season, Saturday at the Iowa Intercollegiate on the ISU Cross Country Course. The women's 5,000-meter race will start at 11 a.m., and will be followed at 11:45 a.m. by the men's 8,000-meter race. A spread of teams from across the state of Iowa will be present.
“It's another chance for us to give some athletes the opportunity to compete,” Iowa State head coach Corey Ihmels said. “It should be a good and competitive field. We're looking forward to seeing where everyone is at right now.”
A number of Cyclone freshmen will have the chance to compete unattached, alongside some of Iowa State's veteran runners.
“It is an interesting meet,” Ihmels said. “It gives all the teams, and us as coaches, a chance to evaluate the progress of all the runners.”
Results will be posted on cyclones.com at the conclusion of the meet.
