Cyclones Earn Iowa Intercollegiate Titles

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State men's and women's cross country teams both earned first-place finishes at the Iowa Intercollegiate Saturday morning at the ISU Cross Country Course. The Cyclones took the title on the men's side with 21 points. The women took first place with 24 team points.

The Iowa State men were led by senior Dan Murray and redshirt freshman Tyler Rich, who finished second and third, respectively. Murray finished with a time of 25:57.65. He was beat out for first place by Iowa Western's Isaiah Samoei, who completed the 8000-meter course in 25:22.71.

Junior Kellien Oettle, redshirt freshmen Marley Crusch and junior Nichole Engelhardt led the women's side, finishing third through fifth, respectively. The Cyclone trio finished the 5,000-meter course behind Morningside's Kara Nelson and Iowa State freshman Morgan Casey, who competed unattached.

The Cyclones will next see competition Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. Action is set to begin at 11 a.m.
