Leonard Johnson Wants Fans To Know He Is Okay

AMES, Iowa -- The first thing Iowa State defensive back Leonard Johnson wants Cyclone fans to know is that he is okay.
"Our fans have been really supportive of me through the last four years and I appreciate their concern on my behalf," Johnson said.
Johnson was taken from the Jack Trice Stadium field in the fourth quarter of Saturday night's game against Texas after a collision with a Longhorn player and an ensuing helmet-on-helmet hit with a teammate at the end of the play. Johnson was momentarily stunned.
"I was trying to avoid getting blocked and then it happened so fast," Johnson said. "I was lying on the ground. The medical staff and trainers were right there. I want to thank them for being so careful."
Johnson said the left side of his body was tingling. He was taken to Mary Greeley Hospital. Johnson was released after 90 minutes of observation and tests.
"At this point it is just a neck strain," Johnson said.
Johnson was able to move all of extremities on the field even before he was taken out of Jack Trice Stadium.
"I was talking to (Associate Athletics Director for Athletics Training) Mark Coberley, my mom, coach and my friends and they kept me relaxed," Johnson stated.
Johnson attended practice Sunday and spoke with media as he was set to eat dinner with his teammates. The main thing he wants people to know is that he is okay. That is what counts.
