Iowa State Prepares For South Padre Island Invite

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State men's basketball team will travel to the South Padre Island Invitational, Nov. 25-26 in South Padre Island, Texas.

Game 2: Iowa State (3-1, 0-0) vs. Rice (4-0, 0-0), Saturday, Nov. 26, 6:30 p.m. CST

- Iowa State (3-1, 0-0) travels to South Padre Island to participate in the 2011 South Padre Island Invitational, Nov. 25-26 at the South Padre Island Convention Center.
- Iowa State will battle Providence (4-0, 0-0) in the third round of the tournament (the first two rounds were competed at on-campus sites) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. CST.
- The Cyclones' fourth round opponent will be Rice (4-0, 0-0) on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
- The Iowa State-Providence game will not be televised, but the Saturday matchup with Rice will be televised by CBS Sports Network.
- Iowa State has played in two regular-season tournaments in the state of Texas, both in El Paso: 1986 Sun Bowl Classic; 1993 Sierra Medical Sun Classic...ISU went 2-2 in those tournaments.
- Iowa State has played in two NCAA Tournaments in Texas: 1996 Midwest Regional (Dallas); 1997 Midwest Regional Finals (San Antonio).
- Dallas has hosted three Big 12 Championships (2003, 2004, 2006).
