AMES, Iowa - No. 14 Iowa State (22-4, 13-2 Big 12) will host Texas A&M (21-7, 10-5) on Saturday night in the final match of the regular season and the final conference match between the programs before the Aggies move to the Southeastern Conference next season. A ceremony honoring Cyclone seniors Carly Jenson, Caitlin Mahoney, Kelsey Petersen and Debbie Stadick will immediately follow the conclusion of the match.
Playing at Texas A&M earlier this season, Jenson led the Cyclones with 17 kills and added 10 digs and three block assists as Iowa State won, 3-1. Middle blocker Jamie Straube also posted double-digit kills with 10 and Tenisha Matlock had seven block assists. Entering Saturday's match, Matlock has collected four or more block assists in Iowa State's last nine matches.
Although the Cyclones were able to quiet Aggie standout Kelsey Black, who is averaging 3.33 kills per set this season, and hold her to only nine kills in the match, Tori Mellinger stepped up for Texas A&M, recording 14 kills and 13 digs in the match. Since losing to Iowa State, Texas A&M has gone 5-2, losing in five sets at Kansas State and falling to No. 5 Texas on Wednesday.
Despite ranking near the bottom of the league in digs and blocks, the Aggies stifled the Cyclone offense in the earlier meeting and Iowa State picked up the win while hitting .206 in the match, the lowest hitting percentage when winning a conference match this season.
Saturday night's match is slated for 6:30 p.m. CDT. On Sunday, ESPNU will announce the NCAA tournament field at 5 p.m.
Cyclone Notebook
- Iowa State will honor seniors Carly Jenson, Caitlin Mahoney, Kelsey Petersen and Debbie Stadick on Saturday night when Iowa State closes out the regular season against Texas A&M at 6:30 p.m. CDT.
- This season's senior class is the winningest class in Iowa State history, winning 75% of its matches.
- Kristen Hahn has 515 digs this season, ranked seventh all-time at Iowa State for digs in a season. Hahn is the first player to enter the top 10 before playing 100 sets in a season (she has played in 93 sets this season).
- After averaging 5.50 digs per set last week against Kansas State and Baylor, Hahn was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week. It is the sophomore's fourth defensive honor of the season.
- Setter Alison Landwehr crossed the 2,300 assists mark on Saturday. Landwehr has 2,325 assists in two full seasons as the Iowa State starting setter.
- The Cyclones had 15 blocks against the Bears, the most of the season and the most blocks by the squad since winning in five sets at No. 5 Nebraska in 2009.
- Sophomore middle blocker Tenisha Matlock tied a career-high with eight block assists against Baylor to help the Cyclones to 15 total blocks. Matlock's other eight-block assist match was against Baylor in Ames earlier this season.
- Three of Matlock's block assists came in the crucial fifth-set after Baylor jumped ahead 8-2.
- Iowa State collected a season-high 28 block assists against the Bears, the third time this season the team has recorded more than 20 block assists in a match.
- Baylor also marked the first time since 2007 that four Cyclones have posted five or more blocks in a match. Matlock (8), Jenson (6), Jamie Straube (6) and Petersen (5) each had five blocks against the Bears.
- Jenson's total block assists are a career-high for the outside hitter while Matlock tied a career-high and Straube tied a season-high.
- The five-set win against Baylor was the first five set match for Iowa State since losing to No. 8 Texas at home and the first five-set win for the Cyclones since defeating North Dakota State in non-conference play.
- The win improved the Cyclones to 4-4 this season when dropping the first set.

- Redshirt freshman Hannah Willms came off the bench for a career-high three block assists in the match.
