AMES, Iowa - A right side hitter from Williamsburg, Iowa, Mackenzie Bigbee won the 2011 USA Volleyball 18U Junior National Championship as a member of the Six Pack club team and was named the USAV 18U National Junior Olympic MVP for her part in the Six Pack's championship run, which included scoring the championship-winning kill.
"Mackenzie Bigbee is a lefty right side hitter, a huge upside, very athletic with a great arm," Johnson-Lynch said. "She's someone we see as being a terminator. She can come in and establish herself on the right side as someone who can put the ball away for us."
Ranked 36th by Prepvolleyball.com, Bigbee led her conference with 5.84 kills per set and 3.90 digs per set for the Williamsburg Raiders this season and graduates holding school career records in kills, service aces, kills per set and digs per set.
An overachiever throughout her high school career, Bigbee was named the MVP of the 2011 USAV 18 National Junior Olympic Tournament, where she won a championship, before her 18th birthday. At the conclusion of her senior year, Bigbee was one of four incoming Cyclones named an Under Armour All-American, garnering first team honors.
Not limited to the volleyball court, Bigbee also earned varsity letters in all four years at Williamsburg in basketball, track and softball, earning all-state honors in basketball, state qualifying results in track and all-conference nods in softball.
Off the court, Bigbee has set herself apart in the classroom as a member of the National Honors Society and receiving the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence.
