- Iowa State closes exhibition play Sunday at 5:30 p.m. when it hosts Rockhurst (Mo.) at Hilton Coliseum.
- The Cyclones opened the season Tuesday night with an 87-33 win over Coe College. Iowa State shot 52.6 (20-38) percent from the field and held a 52-36 edge in rebounding against the Kohawks. Rockhurst lost its Wednesday exhibition to Creighton, 83-26.
- Iowa State had three players in double figures Tuesday night. Junior forward Chelsea Poppens led the way with 14 points in 17 minutes of action. Freshman guard Nikki Moody tallied 12 points and junior center Anna Prins added 11.
- Moody, who played a team-high 25 minutes, had a solid overall debut, adding five assists, three steals and two blocks to go along with her 12 points.
- The Cyclones hit eight 3-pointers in the second half of Tuesday's game after going just 1-for-7 from behind in the opening stanza.
- Iowa State had just eight turnovers in the game. In exhibition play in 2010-11, ISU had 16 against Wartburg and 15 against Minnesota State.
- All 14 players scored for the Cyclones in the win Tuesday night. The Cyclones got 54 points from their bench.
