AMES, Iowa - The No. 13 Cyclones (19-4, 10-2 Big 12) visit Columbia, Mo. on Wednesday night for a Metro Sports showdown against the Missouri Tigers (20-9, 6-6). The match is slated for 6:30 p.m. CDT.
Earlier this season, Iowa State wasted no time against Mizzou, dismissing the Tigers in straight-sets. Senior outside hitter Carly Jenson led Iowa State with 13 kills and 11 digs in the match while freshman Hannah Willms added 11 kills on .308 hitting.
Missouri is 5-1 this season in conference play, falling to No. 10 Texas last month. The Tigers swept No. 21 Oklahoma at the Hearnes Center on Oct. 29 before downing both Kansas, on the road, and Baylor in four sets last week.
Tiger sophomore Lisa Henning has been blowing Big 12 teams away this year, leading the league with 4.80 kills per set during the league schedule. Henning is the current offensive player of the week after averaging 5.75 kills per set and hitting .380 last week in Missouri's wins over Kansas and Baylor.
Jenson is coming off a dominating week of her own for the Cyclones. The Omaha, Neb. Native put up 25 kills against No. 25 Oklahoma last Wednesday and finished the week averaging 5.57 kills per set.
Sophomore Tenisha Matlock continues to blossom in her new role at middle blocker, moving over from the right side at the beginning of the season. Matlock had four blocks (one solo, three assists) against Texas Tech on Saturday and has collected four or more total blocks in each of Iowa State's last seven matches.
