AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State volleyball team will open its spring season, hosting Wayne State, Northern Iowa and Minnesota at the West Towne Courts on Saturday.
The Cyclones finished 20-9 and ranked No. 25 by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in 2010. En route to its fifth-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, Iowa State defeated then-No. 18 Northern Iowa and No. 14 Kentucky.
Northern Iowa rebounded from its early season loss to the Cyclones to finish 31-3, ranked No. 14 by the AVCA. Minnesota finished the season ranked 10th by the AVCA and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 before falling to California.
Saturday's tournament begins with warm ups at 9 a.m. Round one begins at 10 a.m. when Iowa State plays Wayne State on court one while Minnesota and Northern Iowa face off on court two. The teams will rotate through three rounds and each round will consist of three games to 25 points.
