LINCOLN, Neb. - In the squads' final meeting as Big 12 foes, the Nebraska Cornhuskers defeated the Iowa State Cyclones in three hard-fought sets, 25-17, 25-22, 25-17, on Saturday night in front of 3,931 at the NU Coliseum on the University of Nebraska campus.
From the start, Nebraska's defense stifled the Cyclones' offense, picking up 14 eight blocks while holding Iowa State to a .202 average in the match. Hannah Willms led the Iowa State offense with 12 kills on the night and Kelsey Petersen followed closely behind with 11.
Sophomore Kristen Hahn led the Cyclones with 13 digs.
Nebraska's offense powered past Iowa State's defense. The Cyclones had two blocks in the match while three Huskers posted double-digit kill efforts en route to a .404 team average.
Tenisha Matlock, who had five kills against the Huskers, finished the spring with a team-high 83 kills and Hahn completed the schedule leading the team with 54 digs.
