AMES, Iowa - In 2010 Iowa State volleyball fans smashed through the volleyball record books with over 1,200 season tickets sold, more than double the previous record. As the Cyclones return to Hilton Coliseum for their first full season after flooding forced them to play most of the 2010 home schedule at Ames High School, the team is hoping to break yet another season ticket record.
"Over the past few years we have made amazing progress in season ticket sales and average attendance, and we hope this support continues to grow," Cyclones head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch said. "It was incredible last year to break our record mark with 1,211 season tickets holders. Hilton Coliseum has become one of the best volleyball venues in the country, and we have the best fans in the country. We are so excited to be back in Hilton full time this season and see our crowds continue to grow."
For only $40, or under $4 a match, Cyclone season-ticket holders will enjoy college volleyball at its finest and receive preferred seating in sections 110-113 and parking in the lots around Hilton. Season tickets also include admission to the Cardinal and Gold intrasquad match.
In addition, the Cyclone coaches and players will host two meet and greets for season-ticket holders during the season and a chalk talk exclusive before the Aug. 20 scrimmage.
Iowa State will play 11 home matches in 2011, including its Sept. 21 match against the Missouri Tigers which will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU. The reigning Big 12 Champion Texas Longhorns and nemesis Oklahoma both visit Ames at the height of the season, in October.
The Cyclones' home slate begins Sept. 2-3 when Southern Mississippi, Arizona State and Iowa come to Ames for the Iowa State Challenge. The Cyclones' match with the Hawkeyes on Sept. 3 is part of the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.
