AMES, Iowa- Iowa State fans have seen
Tavon Sledge's highlights on youtube, or maybe caught a glimpse of him at the Capital City League. He is easy to pick out on the court. He's the 5-9 flash who can dribble from one side of the court to the other faster than most players.
Sledge arrived in Ames on June 16 and he is already creating quite a buzz with his play at the Capital City League. The Spring Valley, N.Y., native will likely play a prominent role toward the fortunes of the Cyclones next season at point guard.
The freshman was considered one of the best players out of the New York area in 2011, averaging 25.3 points and 5.2 assists while earning first-team all-state honors. Sledge has helped Iowa State re-open a fruitful pipeline to NYC players, following recent former standouts like Jamaal Tinsley, Curtis Stinson and Rahshon Clark to Ames.
