SHENZHEN, China - Iowa State head coach Bill Fennelly has led the United States to a gold medal at the World University Games with a 101-66 win over Taiwan Sunday. It is Fennelly's fourth gold medal, but his first as a head coach, as a member of USA Basketball.
The United States led by just eight at the end of the first before building a 17-point lead (55-38) at halftime. The second half was all United States as it outscored Taiwan 46-14.
The United States was led in the game by Stanford's Nnemkadi Ogwumike's 24 points. Notre Dame's Skylar Diggins added 19 points in the win.
Over the course of the tournament, the United States (6-0) outscored its opponents by an average of 45 points.
