AMES, Iowa - Cyclone sophomore libero Kristen Hahn was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
This is the first conference honor for Hahn, who averaged a conference-best 6.27 digs per set as the No. 18 Cyclones (3-0, 0-0 Big 12) defeated Cincinnati (25-15, 26-28, 25-12, 25-16), IUPUI (25-13, 25-13, 25-20) and Northern Illinois (21-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-21) at the Northern Illinois Invitational last weekend.
The Cedar Rapids native was the only Big 12 player to record 30 digs in a match during the season's opening weekend, grabbing exactly 30 digs against NIU to become the ninth player in Iowa State history to amass 30 or more digs in a single match.
Missouri took home the other two weekly conference honors as sophomore Molly Kreklow earned offensive honors and Emily Wilson was recognized as the league's top rookie.
This weekend, Hahn and the Cyclones host Southern Miss, Arizona State and Iowa in the Iowa State Challenge, Sept. 2-3. The Cyclones home opener is set for noon CDT on Friday against Southern Miss.
