Cyclone Women Top Preseason Cross Country Rankings

NEW ORLEANS - The Iowa State women's cross country team will begin the season ranked first in the Midwest Region and 10th in the national preseason rankings, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced this week. The Cyclone women finished the 2010 cross country season ranked eighth after producing the second-best NCAA performance in program history.
Georgetown tops the women's national preseason rankings.
The Cyclone men's team also earned a preseason nod from the USTFCCCA, ranking sixth in the Midwest Region. Oklahoma State tops the preseason Midwest Regional rankings.
The 2011 cross country season opens Friday at the Drake Fall Classic in Des Moines.
