CHICAGO - Iowa State senior wide receiver Darius Reynolds is nominated for the Receiver Performance of the Year for his dominant outing against Connecticut on Friday, Intersport announced today. The Receiver Performance of the Year is part of a four-month competition that lets fans determine which individual performances reign supreme during the 2011 college football season. The winners will be revealed during the All-Star Football Challenge special airing at 7 p.m. ET Feb. 3, 2012 on ESPN2.
Voting is now open until Sunday at www.facebook.com/AllStarFootball. Week two voting opened today and ends on Sunday, at 9:59 a.m. ET. Fans can vote as often as they would like in each category and can share their vote with Facebook friends.
Reynolds had four receptions for 128 yards and two timely touchdowns in a 24-20 comeback win over UConn. Reynolds' 100-yard game, the first of his career, propelled Iowa State to its first 3-0 start since 2005.
From now until the end of Bowl season, the two top individual performances among quarterbacks, running backs, receivers and defensive players of the week will be featured on the All-Star Football Challenge Facebook page (www.facebook.com/AllStarFootball). The top weekly vote-getter will proceed to the finals, which run Jan. 19-25.
