Hahn Makes History With Defensive Award

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State libero Kristen Hahn has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for the third-straight week. Iowa State has never before earned more than two-consecutive conference nods.

Since the inception of the defensive award in 2007, only former Cyclone Ashley Mass (15) and Missouri's Caitlyn Vann (9) have more defensive awards than Hahn. Among active Big 12 players, Hahn has the second-most career nods behind Texas sophomore Haley Eckerman who has eight weekly honors, including one nod this season.

Playing at Kansas last Wednesday, Hahn racked up 33 digs, her highest total of the season and the only time this year a Big 12 player has posted 30 digs in a conference match. Adding 15 digs to her cause against TCU on Saturday, Hahn averaged 6.00 digs per set over the two-match stretch, leaving her conference season average at 6.08.

Hahn's seventh career weekly award is ties her for the fourth-most conference awards all-time at Iowa State with Curtis Stinson (basketball) and behind former Cyclones Mass, Marcus Fizer (basketball, 10) and Michelle Browning (gymnastics, 8).

Kansas State's Kaitlynn Pelger was named the league's top offensive player of the week and Tiana Dockery of Kansas was the top rookie.

Iowa State (8-5, 2-1 Big 12) travels to No. 15 Kansas State (15-1, 2-1 Big 12) on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. CDT.
