IRVING, Texas- Iowa State's
Chris Allen earned Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors today for his outstanding play last week. Allen, a senior from Lawrenceville, Ga., averaged 23.5 points and was 11-of-18 from 3-point range (61.1 pct.) in two games last week.
Allen received the award by a panel of media who cover the Big 12 Conference.
Allen poured in 22 points and drilled a career-high six 3-pointers in a 69-67 loss at Oklahoma State on Tuesday. Allen was 5-of-7 from downtown in the second half vs. the Cowboys. He followed that game with a career-high 25 points in a 69-46 win over Texas A&M on Saturday. He set a career high in field goals with nine and made 5-of-9 shots from beyond the arc vs. the Aggies.
Allen, who has made a 3-pointer in 14-straight games, is 17-of-29 from 3-point range (58.6 pct.) in his last four games. He has 199 3-pointers in his career and currently leads the Big 12 (league games only) in 3-pointers per game (2.7) and 3-point pct. (43.2 pct.).
Allen is the fourth Cyclone to earn Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors this year:
Royce White (Nov. 14, Jan. 9),
Chris Babb (Nov. 28) and
Tyrus McGee (Jan. 23).
