Volleyball Announces Spring Schedule

AMES, Iowa - The Cyclone volleyball team will play two former conference rivals and the 2011 NCAA Tournament runner-up this spring, head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch announced Thursday. The squad will play a total of five matches during the spring slate.
The spring season kicks off at the Ryan Athletic Center at Creighton where the Cyclones will face North Dakota State and the hosting Bluejays on March 24. Iowa State swept the Bison 2-0 last year at NDSU, winning the first match 3-0 and holding on for a 3-2 win in match two. Creighton last ousted the Cyclones in the first round of the 2010 NCAA tournament.
On March 31, Iowa State will travel to Bettendorf, Iowa to face Illinois for the third-straight year. The Illini, who defeated the Cyclones 3-1 last spring, fell in the 2011 NCAA championship match to UCLA, finishing the season 32-5 overall and 16-4 in the Big Ten.
The first former Big 12 foe on the Cyclones' plate is Missouri, who will move to the Southeastern Conference next season. The Cyclones swept the season series with the Tigers in 2011, winning 3-0 in Ames and 3-1 in Columbia. The teams will meet at Lakeview Elementary School in Centerville, Iowa on April 12.
Iowa State will close out the spring season at home on April 21, hosting Nebraska, who defeated the Cyclones in three sets both last spring and during the regular season. Both matches were played at Nebraska. The Cyclones and Cornhuskers played a tight match in Ames in 2010, a 3-1 Nebraska win at Ames High School where the Cyclones relocated for much of the season due to flood damage to Hilton Coliseum.

9:30-11:30a.m.: Drills with Creighton & NDSU
12:30p.m.: CU vs. NDSU
1:30p.m.: NDSU vs. ISU
2:30p.m.: ISU vs. CU
*Play best two out of 3
March 31st: vs. Illinois at Bettendorf HS in Bettendorf, Iowa
10:30-Noon: Drills
1:30-2p.m.: Warm Up
2p.m.: Scrimmage
*3 out of 5 game match, at least 4 games
April 12th: vs. Missouri in Centerville at Lakeview Elementary
5-8p.m.: Drills & Scrimmage
April 21st: vs. Nebraska in Hilton
5p.m.: 3 out of 5 game match.
