AMES, Iowa - Iowa State will travel to Bettendorf, Iowa on Saturday to participate in drills and play a best-of-five-sets match with Illinois at Bettendorf High School.
The Illini, who fell to UCLA in the 2011 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship match, defeated the Cyclones 3-1 last spring and won in five sets during the spring of 2010. Tenisha Matlock, who has moved from right side to middle blocker since the last meeting between the teams, led the Cyclones with 10 kills against Illinois last spring.
The Cyclones are coming off a split with North Dakota State and Creighton last weekend in Omaha. Sophomore outside hitter Victoria Hurtt led Iowa State on offense in both matches, posting 11 kills in the win over NDSU and eight kills against the Bluejays.
Saturday's event will begin with both teams participating in drills from 10:30 a.m. CST until noon. Warm ups will begin at 1:30 p.m. before the teams take the court at 2 p.m. for their match. Although the match is in best-of-five format, the teams will play at least four sets.
