AMES, Iowa - The Cyclone softball team includes nine newcomers, seven freshmen and two sophomore transfers, this season. Each week, cyclones.com will feature one of the nine newcomers, allowing fans to get to know the players off the field.
Catcher Sarah Parkinson has started three of the four games she has played in this season, seeing time against Valparaiso, Fresno State and Pacific as well as Big 12 foe Texas Tech last weekend. At Akron-Westfield High School in Akron, Iowa, Parkinson was named the 2011 Iowa Class 1A Softball Player of the Year and won Iowa state championships 2011 and 2010.
